Where is the connection between then and now? Of appearance and reality? Of beginning and end?

The impulse in this work is to depict transient matter (industrial structures and colors) in contrast and harmony with life (vibrant sensual woman). The urban beauty that characterizes our world, with its warming rusty brown, scorched earth and oily black bitumen, forms the foundation and the stage for the self-confident young woman.

As a diptych, it follows the tradition of a fold-out picture. Everything has two sides, be it the past and the present, the rotting and the sprouting life. The concrete emotional statement of the object needs the silence, the empty space and the surfaces as a complement.

The essence of this image: the aesthetics of the ephemeral.
