TRIBUTE TO BANKSY

With this work, the artist Carola X pays tribute to the street artist Banksy.

Like hardly any other artist, Banksy has shaped the perception of urban art. Skillful, witty, shrewd and charming - as well as socially critical and political at the same time.

In this 13-pound picture, there are 13 rats in stencil graffiti á la Banksy. Some make the gray cement wall a bit more colorful, while others spy on the thereby insignificant participants with listening device and camera.

By depicting Banksy's rats as painters of the portrait of women and also as their critics, Carola X addresses street art as an art form versus property violation.

Kunst oder Vandalismus? Was wollen wir sehen? Die schöne Frau? Die graue Zementwand? Oder die gesellschaftskritische Botschaft á la Banksy?
Letztlich ist es die Entscheidung jedes Einzelnen und die Konsequenzen seiner Sicht, die nur er trägt.
